Despite a strong push from the rhombus, there are few shapes in geometry as terrifying as the triangle, and no more proof is needed than the infamous area of the Atlantic that's responsible for more disappearing airplanes than the Kennedy family. Now SciFi's new miniseries looks to uncover the mystery by following a rich industrialist (Sam Neill) and four experts from different fields (including Eric Stoltz and Catherine Bell) into the mysterious patch of sea. What they discover may be the result of a government cover-up or a supernatural phenomenon, but one thing is certain: Lou Diamond Phillips can't act. The Triangle works for both hardcore (read: unemployed) conspiracy buffs as well as the rest of us just looking for the next low-budget, small-screen effects extravaganza. Plus, with three easy installments weighing in at a hefty six hours, the miniseries shuffles along to a payoff that is more unexpectedly twisted than your box of Christmas lights.
