The Ultimate Film Fanatic

The Ultimate Film Fanatic is seeking knowledgeable cine freaks in a new game show aimed at movie fans. But even the most hardened Storm Trooper–for-hire-at-birthdays-and-weddings would be disappointed to discover that the word fanatic evidently means social retard to the folks at IFC. The show begins with basic trivia, a format the show would be wise to adopt for the full half-hour. Fanatic takes a painful turn for the worse when, in the second round, it subjects contestants to 30-second debates over topics like Woody Allen's contribution to film or why Kill Bill, Vol. 1 kicks ass. The final round crosses the line into total geekdom when the remaining two players are judged by who has the coolest (read: most embarrassing to well-adjusted home viewers) movie memorabilia. The winners of each episode go on to compete against each other in the final episode for the title of the Ultimate Film Fanatic, $10,000, and the chance to run IFC's programming for a day. Unfortunately, what they won't win is respect after proudly admitting to owning a collection of Oscar-nominated action figures.
