MC Hammer has had a fascinating life. From his days as an Oakland As bat boy to his friendship and collaboration with Tupac Shakur, his rise to superstardom and his fall to bankruptcythese are the things that VH1 exists for. So when the Hammer man himself sat down with a writer to capture his story on film, we had high hopes. Somehow, though, the movie just isnt that gripping. Sure, there are a couple moments of Hey, I didnt know that, and the actors do a great job with mediocre material, but for such an interesting life, the dramatization is pretty dull. To make sure your Hammer Time is quality time, you cant touch the Behind the Music special (conveniently re-airing all month).
