Tobey Maguire may wear the web sackhugging tights, but the real Spiderman is Martin Nicholas, an arachnid expert searching for rare species. Like a specialized version of the Crocodile Hunter, he fearlessly tracks all manner of the eight-leggers, from the largest (the Goliath Tarantula) to the most deadly (the wandering spider). Nicholas' willingness to cozy up to his subjects can be as pulse accelerating as a virgin in a Wes Craven film, and his science teacherlike enthusiasm makes him an admirable man amongst spiders.
