Yes, that’s right, it’s summer and (almost)the season finale of Mad Men! What better way to celebrate the season and start off the summer than with a new take on an Old Fashioned.

We’re excited too! Ok, here it is…

Kurocha Old Fashioned, from Derek Nielsen at Sen NYC:

Ingredients:


2oz Michters Rye Whiskey


1 dash of Fee Brothers old fashioned bitters


2 orange peels


.25oz Carpano Antica (sweet vermouth)


Slightly less then 1/2oz of Black Tea Syrup (Southampton Blend Ito En Loose tea soaked in Simple Syrup (1/2 water 1/2 sugar) for 24 hours

Instructions:


Muddle orange peels and bitters in a rocks glass for 30 seconds


Add whiskey, bitters, and Carpano Antica into the rocks glass


Then add large cube ice and stir for 20 seconds


Garnish with cherry


Serve!


This cocktail goes great with BBQ and campfires.
