Throwback Thursday: July 2004 – Kim Smith

Check out what we were up to in July of ’04. Don’t worry, we’ll leave out our middle school class picture.

Every week, we send someone stumbling into the dark Maxim archives to see what we were up to way back when. This week we’re going back to July of ’04, when we had a thing for Catwoman, we were covering up our vices, and Arielle Kebbel was the best part of Entourage.

Cover Girl: Kim Smith

Where You’ve Seen Her: We’d gladly head back to 2004 if we were guaranteed a year full of Kim Smith, the Texas babe and three-time Maxim cover girl who battled Halle Berry in Catwoman.  An actress turned model, Kim spiced up magazine ads in barely-there clothing for brands like Victoria’s Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Guess before getting her first big-screen role in Van Wilder: Party Liaison in 2002.Whether she was playing a hot sorority girl or working for the bad guys, we loved her all the same.

Where She Is Now: After her role in Catwoman, Kim took a short break from acting and popped back up on the scene in TV series Friday Night Lights in 2007. In 2011 she had cameos in TV shows Romantically Challenged and Roommates, but hasn’t really been in the spotlight since. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a comeback, preferably one in which she dons a leather onesie.

Featuring:

Smoke Machine

We’ve been trying to hide our vices for years, but this brick-sized version of an e-cig may be the most hilarious way in which we pretended to be better people. But now that we live in a world where our right to drink enormous sodas is in jeopardy and the age to legally buy cigarettes may be raised to 21, we’re officially being forced into actually being better people. Well, fuck that. We will continue to live in the past until we die of diabetes and/or lung cancer. Good day, sir.

Naughty by Nature

Not only was HBO’s Entourage funny, but it was also fully stocked with some smokin’ female actresses. Between Dania Ramirez and Jamie-Lynn Sigler, we didn’t think it could get much better. But it was Arielle Kebbel that really sold us on the show when she strutted on set during the the first season. Thankfully you can still catch her on primetime, playing Lexi Branson in The Vampire Diaries, but we’re still hoping she makes a surprise appearance in the now (finally) confirmed Entourage movie
