We Grill Kate Upton and Eli Manning

These two have one thing in common – they answered to us!

While Kate Upton and Eli Manning probably don’t spend too much time in the same room, they got together for last week’s release of Samsung’s 2013 line of televisions. As the savvy journalists we are, we wrestled our way to the front of the line to ask some probing, analytical questions (mostly about our chances with Kate). Take note, BBC, this is how it’s done.

You’re a football fan. Do you play fantasy football?

I don’t play. I really enjoy football because my family’s really involved – my sister works for the Jets. I think that it’s a fun game to watch but I don’t get so involved that I have a fantasy team and all of that.

So if you had to pick a Jets player to have your back in a fight, who are you choosing?

Psh, I have it on my own. Don’t worry about me. I’m feisty.

If you were going to be trapped on an island with anyone from the Sports Illustrated model team, who would you choose?

I know about survival skills. I learned a lot in Antarctica, so I’d probably choose based on entertainment. I’d say Chrissy Teigen because we’ve been friends for a long time, she’s a lot of fun.

What’s an immediate deal-breaker for someone trying to woo you?

Anyone that is a little too obsessed with themselves. Or spends more time in the bathroom than me.

How long do you spend in the bathroom in the morning, getting ready?

It depends on how I wake up – sometimes it’s rough.

What’s your all-time favorite TV show?

My new favorite is Homeland. I got obsessed with it and I literally sat on the couch and wouldn’t move. My all-time favorite…it’s kind of embarrassing, but I love Friends and I keep it always on.

You never got into Joey, right?

Uhhh, no. I don’t…no.

How do you feel about your offensive core as it stands right now?

You know, I feel good. We just signed back Will Beatty, our left tackle Dave Diehl is back, obviously I have a number of guys back. You’re always going to lose a few guys every off-season. Losing Ahmad [Bradshaw], a running back whose helped you win two championships is always tough, but David Wilson hopefully delivers.

What do you see as your needs in the draft?

You know, I kind of let the Giants figure that out. They have a staff that analyzes all the college players and Jerry Reese has done a great job with the draft. He knows more as he gets closer and free agency settles – to see what players you’ve added and the guys you’ve lost. As you get closer, we’ll kind of figure out what we need.

You guys just re-signed David Carr. What role does he play on the offense?

I’m glad to have David back just for the quarterback room, he’s great in the meeting room just throwing ideas out, helping me break down some film and just getting prepared, and great on the sideline during the game when I come and look for certain things – different tips, how the safeties are playing, et cetera. He does a great job just helping me out, helping the team get prepared each week.

This year Joe Flacco had very vocal doubters and he took them and he rolled it into a great season and made a big playoff run; are you kind of mad at him for stealing your thing?

[Laughs] Well you know, obviously, two years ago I got the elite question and we won a championship, and Joe got the elite question this year, so I’m kind of hoping someone asks me the elite question again – it leads to Super Bowl Championships.

What’s your all-time favorite TV show? One that you can keep going back to over and over?

Seinfeld. I have them on DVD and everything.
