One Woman Is Making Bread Using Her Vagina

She’s taking artisanal to a whole new level.

Taking the whole “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade” thing to heart, blogger Zoe Stavri recently used a yeast infection to make sourdough. As she wrote on her blog:

It all started with a fatal combination of a slightly perverse sense of humour, a keenly scientific mind, and touch of the thrush. Waking up on Saturday with the familiar itchy burny fanny, I giggled to myself “maybe I could make bread with that”. And that ticked into, “well, I’ve always wanted to try making my own sourdough anyway” and then a “fuck, would that even work?” and then I got curious and the next thing that happened was I was scraping white goop off of a dildo into a bowl of flour mixed with water.

Before you make sourdough, you need to make sourdough starter, which is comprised of wild yeast, flour, and water. Stavri’s technically got all the ingredients she needs, even if the wild yeast was obtained using less traditional methods.

If you’re interested in seeing the final product, she’s been documenting her whole process on Twitter using the hashtag #cuntsourdough.

This isn’t the first time this sort of experiment has been undertaken. Earlier this year, a writer made yogurt using her vaginal yeast and in 2014, another writer fertilized her salad greens with menstrual blood (yes, those were both published by Vice).

As for me, I’m not one to DIY anything, but I still have to give credit where credit is due: the human body is an amazing thing.
