Hasbro Ready to Churn Out Four More Transformers Films

Company exec confirmed new movies at conference held in Cannes.

The dramatic potential inherent in disguised robots has never been lost on anyone who as a kid sent an Optimus Prime action figure crashing headlong into a roaring plastic Grimlock—and the mega-toymakers at Hasbro know it. In a talk given at the 2015 MIP Junior Conference in Cannes, a top Hasbro exec revealed his company is ready to give moviegoers of all ages what they want: more Autobots, Decepticons, and Dinobots beating the snot out of each other on the big screen for years to come.

In planningTransformers 5, 6, 7 and 8  it appears as though Hasbro is openly taking a page from the Marvel Studios handbook and creating an intricate and extended Transformers universe. As ComicBook.com first reported, Hasbro’s Studios and Entertainment and Licensing President Stephen J. Davis said fans of the franchise are “going to see a new Transformers movie coming from Hasbro and Paramount and Michael Bay and our other partners” for a decade.

“We decided we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the Transformers franchise, so we got together in a three month period of time,” Davis said.

Hasbro assembled a writers’ room to put the plan together, a team of “nine of some of the most creative writers I have ever worked with,” said Davis, “shepherded by Akiva Goldsman, who many of you may know won an Academy Award for A Beautiful Mind, and written a bunch of great movies.”

The plans aren’t limited to the cineplex, as Davis said they would be “doing the same in television and digital.”

Of course this is all because Transformers fans want more, but it doesn’t hurt that the previous movies have rung up nearly $4 billion in box office receipts worldwide since 2007

The big question we’d like to have answered: is there any chance Megan Fox will ever return?

Because Megan Fox.

Stephen J. Davis’s MIP Junior 2015 presentation. Fast forward around to 13 minutes in to hear him address Transformers.
