So Macaulay Culkin has a Pizza-Themed Velvet Underground Tribute Band

The Home Alone star, and Michael Jackson pal, pays musical homage to Lou Reed and Papa John.

People love pizza, and people love the Velvet Underground. So logic dictates that putting the two together would make something super-lovable, right? Well, Home Alone tyke Macaulay Culkin and some of his friends decided to find out with their pizza-themed, Velvet Underground tribute band called (wait for it) The Pizza Underground.

Are they good? No, they are not. But Culkinpresumably has a lot of time on his hands, and given how he looked last yearwe’re thrilled that he has food on his mind. The demo, recorded live at Mac’s home, is available on the the band’s website and includes their takes on a number of classic Velvet tunes. “Candy Says” becomes “Papa John Says”, “I’m Beginning to See the Light” is now “I’m Beginning to Eat the Slice” (that one’s kinda clever), “All Tomorrow’s Parties” is “All the Pizza Parties”, and they even tackle Lou Reed’s solo career with their spin on “Walk on the Wild Side” called, “Take a Bite of the Wild Slice”. And yes, that last one is terrible. What the hell is a wild slice?

At the very least the quintet (Mac plus Matt Colbourn, Phoebe Kreutz, DeenahVollmer, and Austin Kilham) has the Velvet’s black clothes and shades aesthetic down. And for what it’s worth, the late great Lou Reed was a big pizza fan himself
