A special episode honors the lives of the three Stormchasers killed in last week’s Oklahoma tornado.

The tornado outbreak that wreaked havoc near El Reno, Oklahoma, on May 31 did irreparable harm to countless homes, businesses, and lives. Three of the victims—Tim Samaras, Carl Young, and Paul Samaras—were weather experts who starred on the Discovery Channel reality series Stormchasers. They died while chasing this killer storm, which they had done together for no less than 125 tornados. As a tribute to their lives, which were spent trying to understand the science behind these deadly twisters, Discovery is airing a special episode of the program. It will not only provide highlights of Tim, Carl, and Paul from the show, but will also chronicle the EF5 tornado that traveled over 17 miles and left mass devastation within its 45 minute reign of terror in Oklahoma on May 20. With in-depth interviews with scientists and the latest data, the show will “look at how this tornado formed, how it was different from a similar EF5 tornado that hit in the same area in 1999, and the role the warning system had in saving lives.” So check it out, and know that these men died trying to make the world a safer place.

Mile Wide Tornado: Stormchasers Tribute airs Wednesday, June 5th, at 10pm on Discovery.
