Watch John Cusack and Paul Dano Both Play Beach Boy Brian Wilson

Love & Mercy is a tribute to a musician, his troubled past, and some seriously chill music.

Love & Mercy, the upcoming Brian Wilson biopic, gives an in-depth look at the Beach Boys‘ leader during two vastly different periods of his life. In the portion of the film set in the sixties, he’s portrayed by Paul Dano and shown unraveling while recording Pet Sounds. For the part set in the eighties, a worn-out John Cusack tags in and Elizabeth Banks takes on the role of Wilson’s second wife, Melinda. The film promises to be an honest, at times painful, retelling of the musician’s life – with The Beach Boys’ songs serving as a welcome backdrop.
