WATCH: John Oliver Addresses the Paris Attacks in a ‘Moment of Premium Cable Profanity’

“We know this attack was carried out by gigantic f–king a–holes.”

After the harrowing attacks in Paris last Friday, several entertainers have shared responses to the tragedy: some posted their support for the people of Paris social media, some gave short, powerful speeches, and others called for a moment of silence.

And John Oliver gave a very John Oliver-like response. The Last Week Tonight host, who doesn’t shy away from telling it straight, did just that in a segment on Sunday night’s show.

“It’s hardly been 48 hours and much is still unknown. But there are a few things we can say for certain. And this is when it actually helps to be on HBO, where those things can be said without restraint,” he began, before launching into the rest of his two-minute ‘moment of premium cable profanity.’

“We know this attack was carried out by gigantic fucking assholes,” he continued. “Unconscionable flaming assholes, possibly working with other fucking assholes, definitely working in service of an ideology of pure assholery.”
