Sunday NFL Taste Test: Frozen Pizza

We pit three brands against each other to find out which pizza is the best for NFL Sunday.

Sure, you’ve got the 116″ flat screen that hasn’t even been released yet, the speakers that have already caused your elderly neighbors to call the police, and the oversized couch made from the skin of only the cutest of baby seals, but have you thought about what’s really important: What snacks are you going to put on the table? We hit the supermarket and put our editors through a rigorous blind taste test of snack foods to help you decide what to bring home for the big game on Sunday. Check back every Friday throughout football season for a new snack-food face-off.

Brand: Totino’s

Price: $1.99

Score: 3.97

Verdict: This is an immature excuse for pizza, it should probably take its place at the kiddie table.

Comments:

“Not enough sauce”

“Where’s the flavor?”

“Looks and tastes like baby food”

Brand: DiGiorno

Price: $6.99

Score: 5.7

Verdict: Coming in second, the Italian-named pie was missing the authentic Italian taste but was heavy enough to fill us up.

Comments:

“Nice thick crust”

“Worse sauce, best cheese”

“Not bad, like high school lunch pizza”

And The Winner Is…

Brand: Ellio’s

Price: $2.49

Score: 5.8

Verdict: Ellio’s proves that you don’t need cash to get a great tasting frozen pizza. Although, winning by a tenth of a point isn’t that impressive.

Comments:

“Yummy! (sorta)”

“Delicious”

“Surprisingly good sauce”
