Bar Of The Week: The Standard Biergarten

Feeling contrary? Celebrate Oktoberfest this Independence Day!

The awesome girls of BarChick.com are here to help you find the world’s greatest watering holes.

The Standard Biergarten, L.A.

Beer? Check. Pretzels? Check. Foosball? Check. Hot barmaids in lederhosen? Check. If you’re looking to celebrate July 4th in the weirdest way possible – i.e., having Oktoberfest instead – the Biergarten on the roof of The Standard in Downtown L.A. is the one. It’s an outdoor German garden, complete with fake grass, high bushes, and long communal tables. Grab a boot of beer (that’s one liter of the good stuff) and fill it up from a wicked selection. Next up, it’s the pretzel bar, serving up sweet and savory varieties as well as German sausage – satisfaction guaranteed! If sitting around, swigging beer, and taking in the epic view of downtown L.A. isn’t enough for you, then hit the foosball and ping pong tables. A biergarten may be man’s idea of heaven, but luckily all the ladies know it – so this is one garden that will never be short of girls.
