Airbnb Wants You to Spend the Night Inside the Louvre Pyramid

Hang out with the Mona Lisa for free.

If you’ve been to the Louvre during tourist season you know it can be nearly as trying a trip as going to Disney World. Lines, cranky travelers all around you not really seeing the good stuff, just taking selfies—it can actually be a lousy time.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Louvre’s iconic pyramid, Airbnb wants to give a lucky contest winner and their guest the kind of museum-going experience those selfie-taking tourists can only dream of. It’s literally like spending the night with the Mona Lisa.

Here’s more from Airbnb:

…As the sun sets on Paris, the winning duo will make their way to the museum where they will be greeted by an art-historian, who will take them on a bespoke tour, like those previously given to the Obamas, Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

Airbnb and the Louvre today announced that the museum will be transformed into a magical Home for one night. For the first time ever, passionate art-lovers will have the chance to cosy up to priceless masterpieces, including the Mona Lisa, and sleep under the Louvre’s iconic glass Pyramid in a “mini-pyramid” that will be specially designed to celebrate the building’s 30th anniversary.

Even if you could care less about fine art, that sounds like a great time.

And there’s way more to it than merely camping out in the most expensive tent in history:

Once they have discovered the museum’s wonders, the duo will enjoy their Home for the night in the presence of some truly legendary hosts: they will toast the Mona Lisa with a cosy Renaissance inspired aperitif, while relaxing on a sumptuous Parisian lounge sofa, listening to the atmospheric sounds of French music on vinyl records. Venus of Milo, the Greek goddess of love and beauty, will then “host” an extravagant feast in a pop up dining room. And lastly, guests will be treated to an intimate acoustic concert in Napoleon III’s lavish Apartments.

Louvre Deputy Managing Director Anne-Laure Béatrix said of this exclusive Airbnb Experience that they “know that many people would love the opportunity to wander alone at night through the Louvre and we want this to be a magical and unforgettable experience.”

“With Airbnb’s partnership,” Béatrix said, “we hope to encourage more people to discover how truly accessible and inspiring the wonders of art can be.”

Here’s how you enter—before April 12, 2019, go here and write an 800-character answer to this question: why would you be the perfect guest for a night with the Mona Lisa?

There will be only one winner (and their guest). One winner will be selected. See the terms and conditions at airbnb.com/louvre.
