Outfitted: Robert Buckley

From comedy-drama to crime and horror, this guy can do it all. And then some.

Robert Buckley never planned on being in the spotlight. After snagging an Economics degree from UCSD, the SoCal native changed gears and headed to LA in pursuit of movie/TV stardom. While he found his footing in the world of modeling, it was a breakout role in the CW series, “One Tree Hill”, that really pushed Rob towards stardom. With a few more roles under his belt, the multi-talented performer found a home back where it all began, as the former fianceé to an undead coroner assistant on CW’s “iZombie”. If Rob’s journey teaches us anything, it’s to follow your dreams. And, maybe, skip over Economics.

Rob told us a little about his life without acting, that word that rhymes with duck, and how to properly pick up a lady.

If I weren’t acting, I’d probably go back to what I was doing before I got my big break- living with my parents, constantly arguing that $30 is far too small an allowance for a guy in his thirties.

My favorite curse word rhymes with duck and my mom yells it every time she gets a parking ticket. For the readers that haven’t met my mom, I’m referring to the four letter gem, “fuck”. It’s the linguistic equivalent to salt, it goes well with everything, though it should only be used sparingly.

I had zero fashion sense as a teenager, so I’d describe my style as a “cautionary tale.” In my defense, I was far too busy being awkward and not dating the popular girls to pay attention to what was fashionable. Nowadays, I keep tabs on what’s hip (hello skinny jeans) in hopes of someday being described as “stylish.”

While it seems like it would be a slam dunk, don’t wear a shirt that says “The Only Thing Bigger Than My Heart…Is My Trust Fund” if you’re trying to impress a woman. Opt for something simple: Fitted jeans, a good pair of boots, a solid color shirt and a nice blazer or leather jacket. You can casually mention the trust fund in conversation later.

I love going to Target. Yes, that Target. What can I say? It’s a magical place. I usually go only needing one or two items but end up spending hours blissfully wandering around, ultimately spending a small fortune on things I never knew I needed.

I usually browse for clothes in my roommate’s closet. However, when he’s home and I’m forced to actually shop, I like to explore around Santa Monica or Abbot Kinney and discover cool new spots. In a pinch, my old reliables are Nordstrom, Barneys, Kitson and American Rag.

I’m a big fan of Kiehl’s face products, Dr. Bronner’s Body Wash, Old Spice deodorant (scent names like Bear Glove and Hawk Ridge make me feel cool and edgy), Tom Ford and Chanel colognes, Band-Aids and Excedrin.

It’d be a crime if Betty White didn’t make the Maxim Hot 100 list this year.
