Vanessa Hudgens Ignites ‘Cultural Appropriation’ Outrage On Instagram

See the photos that landed the ‘Spring Breakers’ beauty in hot water.

Looks like Justin Timberlake isn’t the only celebrity who’s getting accused of “cultural appropriation” this week.

Vanessa Hudgens was hit with similar charges after debuting a typically boho-chic outfit on Instagram. The beautiful 27-year-old actress, of Spring Breakers and High School Musical fame, posted several snaps in a flowing blue dress, one captioned “No Monday blues here.”

But some followers sniffed out controversy, claiming that the dreamcatcher pinned to her hair constituted “cultural appropriation.” Though Hudgens is reportedly part Native American on her father’s side (shades of Elizabeth Warren?), some users protested that she was merely reducing that culture to a fashion accessory.

“Why are you like this???” one user wrote. “You constantly go out of your way to disrespect cultures to look ~boho. It’s rude as f*ck. Don’t put dreamcatchers in your hair! That you have to constantly be told not to do this and dragged means you are not listening and it’s frustrating af!!”

Others took offense at her “frustrating af” look, too.

“This is not the first time she has done this either,” another wrote. “Even though she is part Native American using a dreamcatcher as ‘hair jewelry’ is not done. If someone can tell me a tribe who does it I will take it back. But until then she is constantly pulling this type of stuff with multiple cultures and I don’t like it.”

One of Hudgens’s other recent transgressions was at an undisclosed music festival. There, the actress posted selfies while wearing a bindi—although she does not claim any Indian ancestry.

Perhaps Hudgens should play it safe and stick to shilling for detox tea.
