If you’re anywhere near New Orleans this weekend, you know there’s only one place to be, and that’s the Smoothie King Center for the NBA All-Star game. Dunk contests, Basketball Hall Of Fame announcements, and of course, games featuring the likes of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant, and Blake Griffin make it a pretty irresistible spot for hoops fans, but the real slam dunk is that Mardi Gras celebrations are also underway. And you know we love us some Mardi Gras.

The Chicago Auto Show

Feb 8 – Feb 17, Chicago, IL

Tickets – $12

The legendarily huge car show is wrapping up its 11-day run on Monday, so if you want to head down there and see the jaw-dropping collection of speedy supercars, space-age concept cars, and sensible minivans (hey, that might be your thing), this is your last chance to do so.

The San Francisco Beer Week Craft Beer & Sausage Eating Contest

Feb 15, San Francisco, CA

Entrance Fee – $20

Have you ever wanted to get a mouth full of sausage in San Francisco? Wait, let’s rephrase that. Have you ever wanted to have multiple wieners shoved in your face in – nope, that doesn’t sound any better. Look, it’s a sausage-eating contest in the Mission District, in the middle of a beer festival. If you can get over the innuendo, it’ll be awesome.

Total Confusion Game Convention

Feb 20 – Feb 23, Mansfield, MA

Prices vary; register here.

For something just a teeny, tiny bit geekier (full disclosure, you may need a neck beard and to move back in with your parents to be allowed to attend), try the Total Confusion convention in Mansfield, MA. Yes, the idea of sitting around playing Dungeons & Dragons for three days straight might seem ridiculous, but going by their Facebook page, the hilarity to be had from people-watching alone might well make it worth the trip.

South Beach Wine & Food Festival

Feb 20 – Feb 23, Miami, FL

Event prices vary; check out the full schedule here.

If you’re sick of the snow and in the mood to stuff your face, head to Miami for the annual guzzle-a-thon that is SOBEWFF. Featuring seminars, tastings, parties, and more food than you can shake a stick at – much of which, for convenience, will probably actually be on sticks – it’s the perfect excuse to spend a weekend getting fat and drunk in the sun. Not that you need an excuse…
