WATCH: Here’s What It’s Like to Drive a Live-Sized Tonka Truck

They’re not just for kids anymore.

Tonka has been selling trucks as children’s toys since the dawn of human history. You had them as a kid. Your father had them as a kid. Your great, great, great, great, great grandfather had them as a kid. We all loved them and we all miss them.  That is, until now.

You see, the nice folks at Tonka know they sort of left you hanging, so they did their civic duty and made some real life Tonka trucks for adult-you to lust over. First, there was the extended cab Toyota Tundra, complete with a 10” lift, supercharged 5.7 liter V-8 engine, and more lights than a city’s worth of Christmas trees, and a t-shirt cannon.

Then there was the Tonka T-Rex Ford F-250 Power Stroke. This supercharged, diesel-drinking beast has 1,000 pound-feet of torque, 40-inch tires, and an air ride suspension system that means it will drive over just about anything.

Tonka’s newest creation is the Tonka4Runner. It, too, gets a 10 inch lift kit, 38×15 inch tires wrapped around 20 inch Ultra Motorsports Type 250 Colossus wheels, and King 8×2.5 inch and 10×2.5 inch coil overs and shocks to round out the bulletproof suspension.

We got to drive, crawl, slide, and jump our way around Big Sky Ranch in Simi Valley, California for an afternoon , happily pretending to be five year olds again — only this time with plush leather seats, light kits that could be seen from outer space, and moooooaaar power!
