This Artist Is Remixing Pop Culture With Some Dank Weed Nuggets

Dan Cretu is putting the high in “high art”.

Have you ever seen a portrait of Rihanna? OK, cool: But have you ever seen a portrait of Rihanna…on weed?


Romanian artist Dan Cretu, known for his colorful photographs and creative sculpture of everyday objects made out of food, is feeding his inner stoner by remixing iconic photos, celebrity portraits and corporate logos with some dank, dank nugs. From Friends to Marge Simpson, Cretu transforms cultural touchstones into surreal characters who would be at home in a stoner’s daydream.


Cretu say if there’s any deeper meaning to his work — “‘I do not like to talk about what my art projects mean, I prefer others to do it for me,” he toldMetro —  but if there’s one message to take away, it’s that weed can, on occaision, be a work of art.
