The Rock Is Officially the World’s Highest-Paid Actor

You won’t believe how much Dwayne Johnson made in 2016.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson could kick just about anyone’s ass in Hollywood. Now, the beloved strongman can outspend them all to boot.

Forbes just crowned Johnson as the top-earning actor of 2016, having raked in a hulking $64.5 million over the past 12 months.

Johnson famously got his tough-guy cred as a pro wrestler before jumping aboard the Hollywood money train.

Forbes credits his role in the long-running Fast and Furious franchise as well his steady proliferation of box-office slam dunks. For instance, 2015’s San Andreas, despite getting the shaft from critics, opened to $473 million worldwide.

But Johnson isn’t the highest-paid celebrity bar none. He came 19th on a list of 100 total, with pop star Taylor Swift earning top honors with $170 million. But still, $64.5 million ain’t too shabby. 

So, how is Dwayne taking the big news? Is he playing it cool and acting all dumbfounded about his success?

Definitely not. The high-flying actor took to Instagram to give himself a long-winded, grandiose pat on the back.

But whatever, this man is the American dream in all its jacked-up, muscled glory. As @therock put it on Instagram, his wealth is the end result of years of struggle and dogged determination.

Don’t expect the Rock to rest on his laurels just yet. Our man has a hell of a 2017 lined up, with roles in Fast 8 and Baywatch, both certain to crush it at the box office.
