The stars of the new thriller The Ghost Writer talk sequels, green screens, and missed opportunities for duets and dance numbers.

In Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Writer, Ewan McGregor plays a hack writer hired to assist a former British Prime Minister (Pierce Brosnan) in finishing his possibly explosive memoirs. Once on the job, McGregor’s “Ghost” discovers that he’s actually replacing one of Lang’s former aides who died under mysterious circumstances. Much moodiness, paranoia, and sideways glancing ensues.

We sat down with the former PM and his ghost to discuss on-set friction, the refreshing lack of special effects, and whether or not Ewan and Pierce will be revisiting iconic roles…
