The Villain of Kingsman: The Secret Service Is Our New Hero

In real life, Sofia Boutella doesn’t have knives for legs.

The most memorable part of Kingsman: The Secret Service, the not-unmemorable exercise in anglicized archness that hits theaters in “The Colonies” today, is Gazelle, the balletic assassin with the sharpened prosthetics. The Pistorius jokes make themselves, but Sofia Boutella, who you may know from Nike’s 2014 Super Bowl ad, makes the movie. She’s intimidating and, well, great to look at. Her character sounds like a joke, but doesn’t play like one on screen. That’s a nifty trick and reason enough to keep an eye on Boutella for the foreseeable future.

Here’s another reason. She’s actually a dancer – and a great one at that. She’s worked with Madonna and traveled the world doing photo shoots. She’s a beauty, sure, but she’s got more than that to offer – even when she’s standing on her own two feet.
