Steph Curry Just Murdered the Pelicans

The Pelicans were ready to pull off an amazing upset, and then Steph Curry got involved.

The Pelicans resemble the Warriors in many ways. They’re a young team that plays for a hungry fan base, built around team play and centered on a freakishly talented superstar. But the one thing the Warriors have going for them is that they’re ready to win now — the Pelicans are still one or two years away.

Anthony Davis might be the greatest player in the NBA starting next year, but in the meantime, the crown belongs to Steph Curry, who last night showed exactly why he’s wearing it. With six minutes to go in game three of their first round series, the Pelicans held a healthy lead on the Warriors and seemed poised to pull off an upset and breathe a little life into their season. Instead, the young team completely imploded, blowing a 20-point lead and letting Steph Curry get not one, but two, shots at tying the game in the final seconds.

Watch Curry get absolutely clobbered by Davis as he takes the shot:

When Steph Curry misses once, that means you’re lucky. But given a second try, Curry rarely comes up short, and just like that the Pelicans found themselves in an impossible 3-0 hole to a team that’s ready for a title run.

But Pelicans fans can take heart — the Warriors are what their team is going to look like next year. This loss stings, no doubt, but there’s a lot of greatness on the horizon. Just don’t give Steph Curry two chances to beat you ever again.
