Only a few years after her appearance on “Last Comic Standing” (she placed fourth), her unique sensibility—uncompromising, unedited, and totally explicit—has made her one of comedy’s most beloved new stars. On her Comedy Central show, “Inside Amy Schumer,” she has tackled fingerblasting, group sex, and countless failed relationships. And this summer, she’s primed to bring her sexually charged humor to the big screen as comedy impresario Judd Apatow’s new leading woman. In “Trainwreck,” Schumer plays a debauched writer for a men’s magazine (a role we heartily endorse) who falls for a sports surgeon she’s interviewing. Schumer wrote the script, making it the first Apatow film that he didn’t write himself. More than an endorsement, “Trainwreck” is almost a passing of the torch.
