After Rocky V, we were convinced that nothing could pull that slab of brain-damaged Italian beef off the mat again. But wait—Rock’s back up! This haymaker of a boxing game delivers the pugilistic fun that the last couple of sequels lacked. Filling in for crusty old manager Mickey, players steer Balboa through a career from Philly meat lockers to heavyweight bouts, or they can simply go toe-to-toe with classic Rocky opponents Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang, Ivan Drago, and, um, Tommy Gunn (you can also play as the bad guys). Easy-to-master punches, nasty touches like facial swelling and blood, and clips from the flicks really go the distance. Truly a game that eats lightning and craps thunder.
