This Couple’s Marijuana Wedding Bar Will Make You Actually Consider Marriage

I do…obie?

Open bars at weddings are a double-edged sword, an oasis of booze that can either put you in the zone for a night of dancing and celebrating or turn you into that drunk guest who won’t be receiving a holiday card come December.

An open weed bar, on the other hand, might be the perfect alternative.

John Elledge and Whitney Alexander opted to treat revelers to a marijuana tent at their wedding in West Linn, Oregon over the summer, according to USA Today. Elledge, himself a professional marijuana grower, designed a spread of 13 varieties of marijuana with a “budtender” monitoring consumption so guests didn’t get too baked.

Apparently, it was a huge hit. “We were shocked by how much people loved it,”  Elledge toldUSA Today. “Even an 81-year-old woman who hadn’t smoked weed since the ’60s came into the tent at our wedding.”

Recreational marijuana consumption has been legal in Oregon since the beginning of 2015, although you can only possess about 8 ounces in your home. Three other states and the District of Columbia have also legalized weed, although it’s unclear if wedding weed bars are catching on across the country yet.

There’s one thing we’re sure of: if this is the future of recreational marijuana consumption, then I can’t fucking wait to get married.
