Not the Grinch, not Scrooge, not even Frosty’s numb ass could hold a menorah candle to the delightfully disturbing folks in Bad Santa, which is fueled by more holiday hatred than your annual eggnog chugging contests with Dad. The anger builds each Christmas, when the perpetually sauced Willie T. Stokes (Billy Bob Thornton) and his vertically challenged sidekick, Marcus (Tony Cox), search for a new mall to heist dressed as Santa and his helpful elf. When they hit up a local Arizona spot, Willie winds up with a new lady (Lauren Graham) and a new biggest fan, a little orphaned boy (Brett Kelly) who won’t stop following him around. As Willie’s annual Christmas Eve robbery looms, he finds himself conflicted by his new responsibilities amidst enough cursing to earn a lifetime of coal-filled stockings. Meanwhile, mall security (Bernie Mac) and management (John Ritter, in a far better send-off than his middling ABC sitcom) have issues with the methods of their fresh hire. Santa suit sex scenes, Kwanza gags, and black midget physical comedy are only the beginning in this politically incorrect ode to Christmas sneer. So throw a log on the fire and celebrate what the holiday season is really about: getting wasted and hurting feelings.
