The new breed of superagent is here. James Bond and his finely parted hair, classy garb, and—ahem—classier ladies needs to step aside and let the likes of XXX hero Xander Cage take over. With his take-no-shit attitude and Army-surplus wardrobe, Cage is extreme in every way—and just what the government needs to infiltrate an anarchic gang in Prague and stop them from destroying the world. To the extreme!

XXX starts with a stunt that would fit in with a best-of montage from the X-Games and doesn’t slow down from there. Cage is caught by the cops after one too many run-ins with the law and recruited—as well as renamed, with the far cooler Triple X moniker—by his new mentor, Agent Augustus Gibbons (played with his usual badassedness by Samuel L. Jackson). Quickly sent to Prague to buddy up with the bad guys, X continues to impress with his daring stunts and dangerous attitude. After cozying up to the leader of Anarchy 99—so evil—X gets friendly with one of their ladies (sexy Asia Argento), encountering some moral quandaries along the way. None of this matters, because the acting is so terrible—Diesel slurs through all of his one-liners and the rest of the cast is reduced to a bunch of extras. Fortunately, the sick stunts are damn entertaining and take up most of the movie. So put on your sunglasses and pump up the nü-metal, cause it’s time to enjoy the baddest of the bad kicking some ass for his country. (Insert devil horns sign here.)
