Clearly, Jack White wishes he were a black bluesman from the 1920s instead of a stringy-haired rocker from Detroit. (Who can blame him? Its Detroit.) On Get Behind Me Satan, White plays like a man who sold his soul to the devil to become the worlds best guitarist. The devil got the short end of the deal. Like an evil Emmet Otters Jug-Band, Get Behind Me has a washboard-playin, tub-thumpin, mudhole-stompin vibeexcept that its Jack White, so it rocks real hard and has a lot of marimba. Really.
