New Jersey Nets Dancers-

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

It's my rookie season, but I can't find anything wrong with being an NBA dancer. I get to do what I love and perform in front of thousands of people. I'm being challenged to push myself to learn new styles of dance that I've never done before.

When you’re not dancing, where can people find you?

As a full-time student, my life currently revolves around school work along with dance.  However, as a resident of New York City, you can usually find me in Soho fulfilling my shopping addiction.

Why is your team the best to dance for?

Well as a Jersey girl, I absolutely love representing my home state!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

I'm going to have to give it to Shaq. Kazaam is a classic.

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

Since making the Nets dance team, I've been given so many opportunities to grow in my art. I'd like to do the same for girls who share the same passion for dance.

When you’re not dancing, where can people find you?

When I'm not dancing for the Nets, you can find me at my family’s dance studio in Staten Island, NY.

Why is your team the best to dance for?

The Nets is the best team to dance for because it is a family atmosphere. We truly are all great friends and look forward to working together everyday.

What’s the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it’s the weekend, bring back college?

My nightlife on the weekends depends on the mood I'm in. I love to get dressed up and go out, but sometimes I love to just lounge around.

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

The best thing about being an NBA dancer is the amazing opportunities we have throughout the season. We get to perform for thousands of fans at every home game and do appearances all over the NY metropolitan area. This past month we danced on Good Morning America and two other New York news shows. I even got to travel to London last season on behalf of the Nets. The worst part is missing my teammates during the off season! We are a very close...like family! I get used to seeing them at least 3 times a week!

When you’re not dancing, where can people find you?

When I'm not dancing, I'm usually in the city going on auditions and castings; staying busy with my modeling career! During the summer, you can usually find me at the beach. Surfing is my favorite hobby! I also enjoy shopping, working out and spending time with friends and family.

What’s the worst dance injury you’ve ever had?

Luckily, I haven't had any extreme dance related injuries in my career thus far. However, I did have a terrible surfing accident one summer that resulted in almost 60 stitches! I couldn't dance for a couple of months!

Why is your team the best to dance for?

Our fans have stayed loyal and supportive through good times and bad, and we are happy to have the opportunity to perform for them.

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

Although the Nets are my favorite NBA team, my favorite NBA player is Allen Iverson! I grew up in Pennsylvania and my family was huge Sixers fans. He has so much swagger on the court! His infamous practice quote is one of my favorites of all time. "We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we're talking about practice. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about practice!" Love it!

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

I truly am a firm believer that anything is possible if you work hard and have faith.  Now that I accomplished my biggest dream of being a Nets Dancer, my next ambition is to make my mark in corporate America.  With my degree in Business Marketing and Management from Northeastern University, I plan to climb the corporate ladder to the top as a successful marketing executive.

Who’s the hottest on-screen cheerleader?

Hands down, the hottest on-screen cheerleader is Kirsten Dunst in Bring it On.  She had the sexy, girl next door appeal and the best cheerleading skills of all three.

Jock or Nerd. Which one would you really rather settle down with?

If I could have it my way, I would settle with a nerdy jock.  My type of guy definitely works out and plays sports but, has a side that loves to play video games and watch Star Trek.

Why is your team the best to dance for?

The Nets are the best basketball team to root for because they currently don't have the best record.  I am always about rooting on the underdog, and they need all the cheers and support they can get.  When we do win, the victory is even sweeter!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

My all-time favorite NBA player would have to be Jason Kidd.  He is a strong leader and possesses the keys to leading a team to the finals!  He is all about teamwork on the court.  My second all-time NBA player would be Lebron James.  There is no other basketball player that I enjoy to watch on the court!  He keeps the crowd engaged with his skills and showmanship.

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

The friendships the dancers have formed that extend beyond games and practices are the highlight of my NBA experience. Being on a team with 14 other ladies who are so talented and driven is a privilege, but being able to count them as among my closest friends makes it even more special. Each of us bring something different to the team, and when we come together laughs and good times are guaranteed. The most difficult aspect of dancing for an NBA team is the schedule. Balancing jobs, classes, and personal life with our Nets commitments can be really difficult. It can be exhausting, but we do it because we love it.

What’s the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it’s the weekend, bring back college?

During the season our schedules are pretty non-stop, so when we do finally get a night off we have to make the most of it. Whether I am using it to stay in and catch up on sleep, or to go out on the town and catch up with friends, it will certainly not go to waste.

Jock or Nerd. Which one would you really rather settle down with?

It's a close call, but when it comes to settling down I would have to choose the nerd. Intelligence is a must, and being in a relationship where both people can learn from each other keeps things interesting. Plus, as much as I love sports, I can tend to be a bit nerdy myself.

Why is your team the best to dance for?

The Nets have the best in-game entertainment in the NBA. There is never a dull moment!  In addition to the Nets Dancers, our fans get treated to performances by the Dunking Divas, the Nets Kids, the NETsational Seniors, Team Hype, and our mascot Sly Fox. We really do offer something for everyone. That same sense of variety can be seen in the Nets Dancers performances. We are always challenged to learn different styles, from Broadway to Bollywood and everything in between. Being a part of an organization that allows us that kind of creative freedom is a great opportunity for us to grow as dancers and bring the best show possible to our fans.

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

There are so many things about being a Nets Dancer that make it a wonderful job. If I had to pick one, I would have to say all of the amazing opportunities it has given me. I’ve done things I never dreamed I’d had the opportunity to do, like walk on stilts, become a Dunking Diva, travel to Asia, and dance for thousands of fans. I’m only in my second season so I know there are many more exciting memories to come! The worst thing? June-August. I miss everything about this job, especially my teammates!

What’s the worst dance injury you’ve ever had?

When I was 12, I broke my hand learning back handsprings. Since then, *knock on wood*, I haven't experienced any truly terrible injuries. Muscle strains, bumps and bruises are all part of the job, and I take them with pride!

Who’s the hottest on-screen cheerleader?

One of my all-time favorite sports movies is The Replacements, so I have to go with Brooke Langton who plays Annabelle. Not only is she stunningly gorgeous, but she has an undying love for her team!

Why is your team the best to dance for?

The Nets have the best entertainment in the NBA! It is so wonderful to be a part of an organization that pushes us to give 200% every time we hit the court. We want to put on the best possible show at every game, so we strive to give our fans creative, dynamic and energetic routines. The best part is that our fans notice and appreciate all of our hard work. They continue to compliment us on not only our beauty but on our talent, and give us wonderful applause after every performance!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

Call me cheesy, but I have to go with Michael Jordan! He's timeless. I appreciate the fact that he's not only an amazing athlete, but also an incredible role model. I've admired him since I was a little girl, and I think the world would be a better place if more people were as kind-hearted and hard-working as he is.

New Jersey Nets Dancers-

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

My goal is to continue living day by day - as I currently do.  I have so many aspirations down so many diverging avenues, and being able to explore more than one passion simultaneously is a big dream, but not unattainable.  I would love to work in the Peace Corps or international humanitarian arena, go back to grad school and eventually be a professor, get into ballroom dancing... the list goes on and on.

Jock or Nerd. Which one would you really rather settle down with?

A balance.  My whole life I strive to strike the balance - staying on top of my dancing game, as well as staying on top of my academics and growing in my career.  I hope to settle down with someone who can complement me in that way; someone that has artfully balanced a personal passion with along with their career.

When you’re not dancing, where can people find you?

I absolutely love travelling.  Any chance I get, I buy a plane ticket out of this country to check out a new place.  I am headed to Israel in January, Spain in the spring, and hope to go to Uganda by the end of next year!  More locally, you an find me at a Rutgers game, spending time with my family and friends, or putting in long hours at my job in the nonprofit field, where I help low income individuals and families build toward financial security.

Why is your team the best to dance for?

The ladies on the team really encourage each other to push the limits. We challenge each other to grow in a very supportive environment.  The camaraderie is like nothing I've ever experienced.  I feel blessed to be a part of such a talented team with lifelong friends.  It makes all of the hard work worthwhile.

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

I have complete admiration for former Nets Player, Dikembe Mutombo.  Not only is he one of the greatest shot blockers and 4 time defensive player of the year, but in November he was named global ambassador for the NBA by Commissioner David Stern, in addition to his involvement in UNICEF, CARE and countless humanitarian efforts.  After recently retiring from his basketball career, he continues to work off the court to build programs in the international arena.  This work inspires me to continue along my own career path, where I long for my energy and efforts to contribute to similar efforts.  Dikembe is a great leader for other's to emulate - setting the bar high with his notable contributions global community.

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

My next goal is to tour the world while dancing for a company or an artist.

Who’s the hottest on-screen cheerleader?

I would have to say that Hayden Panettiere is the hottest onscreen cheerleader. I think that hotness for a female should not only consist of beauty, but also inner strength. In the show Heroes, she's always trying to save the world by using her mind and power of healing as opposed to her beauty only.

What’s the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it’s the weekend, bring back college?

Stay in and relax with a movie and good food.

Why is your team the best to dance for?

My team is the best to cheer for, because all of our fans show us so much love!

The worst part is the locker room space, but the best part is meeting and dancing with fourteen other amazing ladies.

We have a lot of young talent and watching them develop is exciting.

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

My all-time favorite player is Patrick Ewing, 11 time All Star! He was always exciting to watch. He had so much passion not only for the game, but for his team and for the fans. He showed it every game he played in.

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

It was most certainly a huge accomplishment. With being so ambitious, the sky is the limit with me. I have grown so much as a dancer, and now I am looking forward to my choreography and my personality taking me further in the entertainment industry. That or running for Mayor!

Who’s the hottest on-screen cheerleader?

I’m going with my girl Kristen Dunst. She was a passionate and driven leader in that movie.

Jock or Nerd. Which one would you really rather settle down with?

Neither. I’m going to have to say Mad Scientist! That's more my speed; plus I just think there would be more chemistry.

Why is your team the best to dance for?

Who doesn't love an underdog?

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

Will Ferrell in Semi-pro! He was the total package!

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

Being a professional dancer has granted me invaluable opportunities to travel the world, to perform for thousands of fans, and has given me the experience to sign with one of the top dance agents in NYC. I only wish to remain healthy and to dance for as long as my body will allow.

Jock or Nerd. Which one would you really rather settle down with?

I've been blessed to have settled down with a man who is a perfect balance of both.

What’s the worst dance injury you’ve ever had?

This past September the Nets Dunking Divas were overseas in Korea and the Philippines performing for the Asia Challenge Tour. During court rehearsal for our first game, I rolled over my left ankle after landing and tore my calcaneofibular ligament. I was out for 3 months, but thanks to physical therapy I'm back!

Why is your team the best to dance for?

The Nets Dancers are under the best direction in the league. We work with the best choreographers in the Tri-State area and have dynamic routines. We are all technically trained versatile dancers, so we can master anything and everything. We're all about empowering one another, and we're a force when we hit the court.

I have to go with Kristy Swanson from the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That movie is so early nineties - She rocks blue spandex and still looks hot!

What’s the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it’s the weekend, bring back college?

I personally love going to my hometown bar with all of my good friends.

Why is your team the best to dance for?

Well the Nets may not be the best this year, but we have heart.  It's the diehard fans that are sticking with us and supporting the team.  Plus, we definitely have the best entertainment in all of the NBA!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

Lebron James. He was a first round pick at 18...come on that's pretty sick!

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

The best thing about being an NBA dancer is getting to share my passion for dance with fourteen other ladies on our team and the thousands of fans who support us. I can't think of one negative thing to say about being an NBA dancer.

Jock or Nerd. Which one would you really rather settle down with?

I would rather be with a nerd. Jocks can sometimes be too full of themselves.

What’s the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it’s the weekend, bring back college?

Since our schedule is so crazy throughout the season, my ideal night would be to stay in and relax. On the other hand, I love to go out with my team because we're all a family and have so much fun when we're together.

I hope to graduate in a year from Parsons Interior Design program and begin work in the field.  I'd love to design my own dance studio.

What’s the craziest thing a dude’s ever done to hit on you? In or out of stadium?

I was once assisting with an in game shooting contest, and I asked the young gentleman if he was nervous.  He said, "A little, but I'd be more confident knowing I had your number."  I told him to just keep his eye on the ball.

When you’re not dancing, where can people find you?

I'm always doing something.  I'm either at school, doing homework, writing, drawing, going to events or concerts... so good luck finding me.
