Sidney Crosby Rouses the Rangers With Cheap Shots

Unable to score with his stick, the Penguins’ captain uses it to hit the Rangers below the belt.

A few days ago the New York Rangers looked like they were already booking tee times, having scored a grand total of two goals in losing three straight to the Penguins. They got back in the series with an emotional lift from Martin St. Louis, who elevated his game while mourning the loss of his mother, scoring the first goal in game six on Mother’s Day. Now the Rangers have extra incentive in the series compliments of Sidney Crosby. The frustrated Penguins superstar (who has just one goal in the series) incensed the Blueshirts with a couple of cheap shots, including spearing Dominic Moore in the groin, then skating away to let teammates cover for him. Now what was initially a snooze of a series culminates tomorrow night in a game seven that promises to be a bloody, sharp-elbowed classic. Sidney should remember to wear his cup.
