If it’s time for a new breed of crime fighter, then who better for the part than St. Elsewhere’s very own David Morse? As a cab-driving, crime-stopping ex-cop, at that. Um…yeah—at least they’re trying something different. Essentially, the show is Morse’s Mike Olshansky using his profession to meet people in peril, then using his law-enforcement background to solve their problems. We can’t imagine how they’re going to get a new crime to solve week after week, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be pretty. Also, his ex-cop status forces him to leave the scene of the crime he just helped solve, making him adopt a nonchalant superhero attitude—he doesn’t need the credit, he’s just doing his job, but not really, because he’s a cab driver. And for pointless subplot action, there’s the ex with custody of the kid and a drinking and gambling priest/best friend. Taxi!
