Evacuate the phone booths, New York—these seven rookie superheroes are ready to begin tackling crime. We'd suggest starting with any pizza joint charging over $2 a slice, but these newly powered people have to save their own sanity first. Where comic book movies dabble in origin, the focus here is on the difficulties of discovering super abilities, regardless if it's a cheerleader with rapid healing, a telepathic cop, or an Internet stripper with a murderous mirror image (played by Ali Larter—isn't that enough incentive to watch?). Because toiling in self-discovery is for Zach Braff films, also included is the requisite dark-suited agent with mysterious devious intentions. Heroes combines both light and dark scenes generously as the seven are groomed for what can only lead to their fight to save the world. Once they're done with that, maybe they can start on that pizza thing.
