For the past month, Fox has overdosed us all with a million CCs of House promos, so we'd understand if you'd prefer to run in the other direction. (Go ahead and risk the patient's life. We don't care anymore!) But while it's no miracle cure for yet another trip to the TV hospital, it's not that bad either. Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) is a cranky, Vicodin-popping infectious-disease specialist who hates patients but loves diagnosing and curing disease. Along with a crack crew of underlings too attractive to have medical degrees, they tackle an array of bizarre maladies that threaten (and risk!) patients' lives. Borrowing heavily from CSI's inside-the-body animatics, the disease part of the show is pretty standard, and it becomes clear from the first few episodes that the doctors will routinely misdiagnose the mystery disease until the final five minutes of each episode. House's attitude is the only bright spot of the show, mostly because he's such an unapologetic asshole.
