Turns out that sexy versions of hard seltzer and beloved children’s show hosts weren’t always the top Halloween costumes of choice. (Who knew?)
Mode.com, the site that brought us the sultry visual history of lingerie video, created a Halloween-specific version of style evolution: 100 years’ worth of costumes in just 3 minutes. The video starts in the 1910s, with spooky papier-mâché masks and way more fabric than we’re used to today, and shows popular costumes for each decade since.
We’re partial to the swinging sixties’ little black cat, but living in 2019 isn’t so bad either.
