Rejoice, for Bella Hadid Has Been Voted ‘Model of the Year’

There was a time, not long ago, when Bella Hadid was the gorgeous—albeit tragically overlooked—Hadid sister. In fact, it was recently revealed that she was rejected from the Victoria’s Secret 2015 Fashion Show while her “it girl” older sister Gigi was welcomed with open wings.
If this sounds like a modeling world-set Charles Dickens novel, know this tale has a much happier ending. Bella Hadid has just been crowned as “the industry’s pick” for Model of the Year in the women’s category by Models.com.
Bella was hand selected by 250 voters “representing a wide range of the industry’s top professionals, including many of the industry’s top stylists, designers, photographers, editors, hair and makeup artists and casting directors, and a wide range of the next generation of the industry’s emerging creative talents.” In laymen’s terms, Bella is “in.”
This is just the crown on top of a momentous year for the rising beauty. She served as the face of various sizzling Calvin Klein campaigns, outshined the stars on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, and broke the Internet more times than anyone in recent memory. Even her vacation photos have become iconic.

But don’t feel as if she has officially outpaced her sister. Gigi won Reader’s Choice last year and was runner-up for the same spot this year, meaning there is plenty of spotlight for the both of them.
And in a heartening bookend to story, Bella finally got to walk in this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Paris. If the sight of lingerie-clad lovely strutting the catwalk had not brought tears of joy to your eyes before, this just might.
