Jane Fonda and 8 Other Beauties Discovered by Eileen Ford

The founder of Ford Models had an incredible eye for talent.

Eileen Ford created the supermodel. After founding Ford Models with her husband in the late ’40s, the New York-born model-turned-talent scout recruited a Murderers’ Row of beauties and signed them to increasingly massive contracts. By the ’60s, Ford represented most of the world’s “It” girls, and through the ’70s and ’80s she guided the careers of the women whose posters hung in boys’ rooms across the country. She liked long legs, small waists, and big smiles. Men liked what she liked. From multi-talented lookers like Lauren Hutton (above) to straight-up bombshells like Christie Brinkley, Ford found them all.

Here are some of her modeling agency’s most famous faces. We wouldn’t have had the chance to admire them if it wasn’t for her incredible vision.
