Bar Of The Week: Skyline Bar, Venice

If you like cocktails with your canals, this will definitely float your gondola.

The awesome girls of BarChick.com are here to help you find the world’s greatest watering holes.

Skyline Bar, Venice, Italy

When visiting Venice you expect tucked-away wine bars, hole-in-the-wall aperitivo joints, and bankrupting al fresco restaurants. But what you do not see coming is a damn impressive swanky sky lounge serving up some of the best cocktails on the continent. Well say ‘ciao’ to the Skyline Bar, the best thing to make its way to these waters since the gondola. Over on Giudecca island (where the snap-happy tourist avoiders like to hang), head up to the top floor of the Hilton and take in the most epic view of Venice. This place boasts a panoramic skyline that stretches across the entire city – it’s the place to catch the sunset, boat-watch, get romantical (although surely you’ve got this one in the bag if you’ve flown her over to Venice?), or just spend a lazy few hours gawking at the view.

Despite the reputation that the Italians aren’t up to scratch when it comes to the drinks scene, the guys up here are so serious about booze that they have flown professional mixologist Riccardo Semeria over from London to mix up the scene. Literally. Expect twists on the classic Italian Aperol-based aperitifs, like the Pam Spritz with tequila, Aperol, prosecco, and homemade pink grapefruit soda water, and blow your mind with absinthe cocktails like the BarChick favorite Molino Fizz, made from Franciacorta Rosè, Hennessy Cognac, lemon, sugar, and absinthe. View? Check. Cocktails? Check. Pool? Check. Bar snacks? Check. Now this is how BarChick does Venice. Ciao, bella.
