5 Martinis Good Enough For James Bond
You’ll be feeling as cool as 007 in no time.
June 19 is National Martini Day, so we’re kicking back and enjoying a drink – and so should you. Here are five recipes to help you celebrate the year’s most important holiday.
1 ½ oz. Camus VS Elegance cognac
¾ oz. orange liqueur
¾ oz. cranberry juice
¼ oz. lime juice
Lime twist for garnish
Combine all ingredients with ice and shake. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a lime twist.
Apple and Thyme Martini
10 oz. vodka
6 oz. apple Juice
1/4 thyme syrup
1 apple, peeled
4 fresh thyme sprigs
Combine vodka, apple juice, and thyme syrup in martini shaker. Shake and pour into glass. Garnish with one sprig of thyme and three balls of apple.
Earl Grey Martini
1 teaspoon Earl Grey tea leaves
2 (1.5 fluid oz.) jiggers of gin
1 lemon wedge
1 (1.5 fluid oz.) jigger of fresh lemon juice
2 fluid oz. simple syrup
In a glass, sprinkle tea leaves over gin and let steep for two hours. Strain the infused gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup into a martini shaker over ice. Cover and shake until the outside of the shaker has frosted. Strain into glass and rim with sugar.
Belvedere Vodka Martini
2 oz Belvedere Vodka
¼ oz Lillet Blanc
Pink grapefruit for garnish
Using a jigger, combine Belvedere and Lillet Blanc into a mixing glass. Add ice cubes, cracking just a few with a bar spoon to promote dilution. Stir for 15 seconds and Julep strain into a chilled martini glass. Peel a healthy strip of pink grapefruit and twist the zest oils over the cocktail for aromatics.
3 measures of Gordon’s Gin
1 measure of vodka
1/2 measure Kina Lillet
Lemon peel for garnish
In the words of Bond in Ian Fleming’s novel Casino Royale:
“Three measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it’s ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?”
