One of These Actors Could Be the Next Han Solo
Can anyone live up to Harrison Ford? No, probably not.
We’re narrowing down the actors who are being considered for the role of young Han Solo in an upcoming standalone backstory film as well as a possible appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
According to Variety, the unofficial short list includes Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Emory Cohen, Blake Jenner, and Miles Teller. And it’s just hard for to get excited about any of them, even the ones we’ve heard of before today. Dave Franco is actually a pretty good actor (did you see him in Neighbors?) and seems like way less of a self-important douche than his older brother — but he feels too hearthrobby or fratty or something. And Miles Teller has the right kind of recognizability, but he just doesn’t seem like he’d be any fun in the role.
Jack Reynor has an Irish accent and allegedly ran over two pedestrians with his car, so, no thanks. Logan Lerman looks like he belongs in a boy band. Emory Cohen might be okay. Blake Jenner is dating Supergirl, so, maybe. And Scott Eastwood we could probably get behind if we had to.
We may have our new Han Solo sooner than later: According to Variety, Rogue One producer Kathleen Kennedy and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller could make a decision within the next couple of weeks. We’re not ready!
