Meet the New Lara Croft

Alicia Vikander gets more ‘It Girl’ every day.

Oscar winner Alicia Vikander has signed on to play Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider reboot, Variety has reported. 

Numerous A-listers have reportedly been interested in the role immortalized by Angelina Jolie in 1996, including The Force Awakens‘ Daisy Ridley. 

But according to Variety, Vikander has pretty much always been the first choice for the role. And who can blame MGM? She’s a superstar, and it will be great to see her kick some ass after her Oscar-winning turn in The Danish Girl, which was a very different kind of role. 

Tomb Raider will definitely be a test of Vikander’s range, and we’re guessing she is more than up for the challenge.
