The smoldering Cuban-Spanish actress, who had a breakout role as Ryan Gosling's virtual love interest in Blade Runner 2049, will play the role of Paloma opposite Daniel Craig's James Bond in the 007 franchise's 25th movie.
De Armas told The Upcoming that she's been a 007 fan for years, and was particularly moved by Javier Bardem's tortured portrayal of villain Raoul Silva 2012's Skyfall.
"I have very special memories from Skyfall. It was actually the first Bond film that I saw on the big screen," she said.
"I thought Javier Bardem was the best villain ever—I'm obsessed with his performance."
De Armas added that she's looking forward to shooting with Craig again, having already worked with the 51-year-old British actor, who is portraying Bond for the final time, on the upcoming thriller Knives Out.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek will play Bond's next nemesis.
Ralph Fiennes will return as M, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Seydoux as Madeleine Swann, Ben Whishaw as Q, Jeffrey Wright as CIA agent Felix Leiter, and Rory Kinnear as Bond ally Tanner.
