Here’s How the Beastie Boys Are Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of ‘Licensed to Ill’

The landmark hip-hop classic was a total game-changer.

November 15, 2016 marks an awesome—and depending on your age, maybe slightly depressing—anniversary: the 30-year mark since the release of the Beastie Boys’ epic studio album, Licensed to Ill. To celebrate in style, the Beasties are reissuing their masterwork on vinyl.

A true landmark in hip-hop, Ill first came out in 1986 and absolutely stormed the charts, damn near every song on the album becoming iconic. On this album alone were mega-hits like “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!),” “Brass Monkey,” and “No Sleep Till Brooklyn.”

Licensed to Ill has been certified a 10 million-selling album by the RIAA and it was the first hip-hop album to ever conquer Billboard‘s Top 200. That’s just in addition to so many of the songs becoming pop-culture touchstones.

You can pre-order the vinyl release here, at the Beastie’s merchandise site, along with retro Licensed to Ill tour gear.

Resume your fight for your right to party when the gear and the album are officially available on October 14, 2016.
