The 10 Best ‘Collector’s Edition’ Video Games of 2016, Ranked

When having the regular game just isn’t enough, true fans get collectible.

As video games become more and more robust, it’s easy to become a devotee of your favorite game the same way people do for movies like The Godfather or The Dark Knight. The surest way to show your love for your game and get the fullest experience it offers is by splurging for its collectible edition.

Here are the best collector’s edition video games of 2016:

10. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

The only game on this list with a collector’s edition that’s entirely digital, Infinite Warfare’s CE comes with season pass, a steelbook case for the game disc, soundtrack and, the real crown jewel, a remastered copy of Modern Warfare which is the only way to get your hands on the remastered COD classic.

9. ReCore

One of the few games on this list that’s a new property entirely, you need to have a lot of love to pull the trigger on ReCore’s Collectible Edition but there’s plenty of reasons to love the game enough to put its Collectible Edition statue in your room and jam to its 10 song soundtrack on a daily basis. 

8. Horizon Zero Dawn

Sony’s upcoming exclusive, Horizon, looks like a mix between Pixar’s Brave and Killzone. The collectible edition coming for the game comes with a 48-page artbook, Aloy statue and a ton of in-game content specific to the pumped up version of the new game from Guerilla Studios.

7. Battlefield 1

Battlefield 1 is already a huge hit but, if you’re late to the party, you may want to consider the Collectible Edition. Statue, playing cards, cloth poster and lots of extra in-game content make this a lustworthy pickup. 

6. The Last Guardian

There’s no better way to celebrate the long overdue game from Team ICO than to nab a copy of its collectible edition. Box, case, statue, artbook and game; what else could you need? 

5. Mafia III

Maybe the most off-beat collectible edition in this list, Mafia III’s CE comes with more recreations of things from the game than any other here. Coasters from a speakeasy, dog tags from the game’s main character and heavy-duty vinyl pressings of the game’s soundtrack round out one of the coolest CE’s we’ve seen in a while. 

4. Gears of War 4

The biggest exclusive for Xbox One this year has a killer collectible edition available, complete with season pass, in-game bonus crates, original artwork and, of course, the JD Fenix statue. 

3. Dishonored 2

The steampunk scifi game is about to be released and has a devout following thanks to the original making a splash. We might save the Corvo mask as decoration for our S&M dungeon but the replica ring, propaganda poster and digital in-game bonuses will definitely give you a leg up in your play-through when the game launches on November 11th.

2. Titanfall 2

Respawn games opted for a more interactive approach with Titanfall 2’s Vanguard Collector’s Edition. The helmet and scarf are fully wearable. The 8GB USB dogtag is too, though we wouldn’t recommend keeping that around your neck when trying to plug it into your PC. 

1. Final Fantasy XV

At this point, the 30,000 Collector’s Editions of FFXV have all been pre-ordered but that doesn’t mean you can’t take to Ebay when the game drops later this month to scoop up the most coveted CE on this list. FFXV’s Collector’s Edition comes with statues and steelbooks for your game room but, more importantly, comes with a huge variety of in-game items to make the hundreds of hours you’ll spend in FFXV that much more pleasant.
