Nets at Knicks – 3:30 PM
The roller-coaster-ride-during-an-earthquake-with-vertigo that is the Brooklyn Nets’ season could hit a turning point this week. The Nets are coming off a four-game slide and are hoping that Brook Lopez returning to the fold will help them tie the season series with the Knicks, as well as push them into a playoff situation. Carmelo – who is hearing MVP chants wherever he goes – is the man to target, but the Knicks have only gotten deeper since Iman Shumpert took the floor. The Knicks have something to prove as well; trying to quiet the critics who say they can’t deliver in big games.
Clippers at Warriors – 4 PM
Who knew that the least-exciting team in California would be the one that has a player named “Metta World Peace?” Even the Kings take a front seat to Showtime, as the suitors line up to take them elsewhere. David Lee and Golden State can clinch the season series and return the favor after a shellacking by Chris Paul at home earlier this month. This game is about a reinvigorated rivalry, as both teams are comfortably in playoff position, and maybe more importantly, way out in front of the Lakers.
Lakers at Bulls – 9:30 PM
The Bulls are nipping at the heels of the Pacers for the Central division lead, while holding an impressive road and conference record. By the way, did we mention that they’re doing this without Derrick Rose? Their front court has always been solid, but the guards have been surprisingly consistent without Rose and the deep bench can hold onto a lead. Once no. 1 gets back into uniform, this team gets a whole lot scarier. As for the Lakers? We all know what’s up with them.
