Beyoncé and Jay Z Allegedly Split Up For a Year Over Rihanna
A new unauthorized biography proposes that Rihanna is a sensitive subject for the power couple.
There were several theories as to just what prompted the infamous Solange vs. Jay Z elevator battle of 2014 and an upcoming unauthorized biography called Becoming Beyoncé adds fuel to that fire by proposing that Rihanna was at the root of the grievance.
The book claims that Beyoncé and Jay Z split for a year due to Bey’s jealousy towards her husband’s protegé, then 17. Rumors were floating around at the time of their alleged split that some fooling around had taken place and the name Rihanna quickly became a dirty word in the Carter household.
“[The rumor] was total fiction,” author J. Randy Taraborrelli tells Entertainment Tonight. “Beyoncé didn’t know what to make of this, and it actually ended up breaking them up for a time. They spent maybe a year apart from each other because Beyoncé just wasn’t sure what to make of the situation with Rihanna.”
Flash forward to last year’s Met Gala where Beyoncé’s sister Solange overheard Bey and Jay arguing over a Rihanna party that Jay wanted to maybe go to, and the elevator shoes came off, family style.
No way to tell if the book has it’s facts straight (unless you’re one of the parties involved) but we’ll be reading anyway.
