Blink 182’s Travis Barker Offered Friends $1 Million Dollars to Kill Him After a 2008 Plane Crash

Barker was one of only two survivors, and was left badly burned.

In his brand new memoir, Can I Say: Living Large, Cheating Death, and Drums, Drums, Drums, Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker reveals the harrowing details of his near-fatal 2008 plane crash.

One of six passengers on a Learjet that crashed during take off from Columbia Metropolitan Airport in South Carolina, Barker walked away one of only two survivors, but with a body so badly burned (over 65%)  that he wished he hadn’t survived at all.

Adam Goldstein (DJ AM) the other survivor from the crash, boyfriend at the time to Nicole Richie, and Barker’s collaborator in the group TRV$DJAM tragically passed less than a year after the crash from an overdose of cocaine and prescription pills.

Barker’s burns landed him in the hospital for four months, and he underwent 27 surgeries that left him feeling as though he didn’t have the will, or the strength to go on with life. In an act of desperation, he made calls to a few friends offering to pay them a hefty sum to end his life.

“I would call friends of mine and go, ‘You know, I’ll deposit a million dollars into whoever’s bank account,” Barker said in an interview with ABC News. ” [Hospital staff] had to take my phone out of my room.”

Although Barker, with good reason, has not been on a plane since the crash in 2008, choosing instead to travel by sea, he said he’d brave it if his kids wanted him to.
