Think you’re ready for Brody Stevens? A regular on the standup scene since the mid-’90s, the bald-yet-hairy Seattle native is what’s known as a “comedian’s comedian.” In other words, he’s the guy who can actually make other comics crack up, even if the audience doesn’t quite get what he’s dishing out. His delivery is totally unique—here’s a set he did on Conan—and the experience of seeing him live is something every standup fan should experience.
That’s why we’re psyched that Comedy Central is turning his HBO digital series into a full-fledged TV show. Brody Stevens: Enjoy It!—which features a mix of live standup, documentary footage, and animation—follows Stevens as he pulls his life back together after suffering a mental breakdown. After spending time in the UCLA psych ward, he’s back on his meds and trying to revive his standup and film career, all with the help of pals like Zach Galifianakis (who is also a producer on the show), Sarah Silverman, Tim Heidecker, and Eric Wareheim.
“Only Bad Audiences”
The show won’t be on till the summer at the earliest, so, in the meantime, follow Brody on Twitterand get a feel for how his delightfully twisted mind works. Oh, and what does Stevens think of all this? “I’m as excited as I can be while on 300 milligrams of Lamictal.”
